What we Treat / Dancing Injuries

Dancing is a sport which involves high force passing through the joints and higher than average flexibility at many joints.  As a result it is common for a wide variety of injuries to occur in those associated with dancing.  Common ailments include ankle sprains, achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, and low back pain. However many other muscle strains, joint and ligament sprains, and joint pains are possible due to the enormous variations in styles of dance and routines.

It is important to address dance injuries correctly, as continuation of regular practice while injured can cause far more serious injuries with longterm implications.

Our Physios are highly qualified in the management of joint and ligament sprains and muscle strains, some with a specific interest in Dance Injuries.  Please mention you have a dancing injury when making an appointment and you will be seen by a Physio with specific skills in this area.  They will utilise a range of their skills in soft tissue management, exercise prescription to stretch and strengthen, mobilisation of the spine and other joints, and prescription of appropriate taping/splints or orthotics, getting you back to full fitness and out on the dance floor as quickly as possible.
